I will be the mirror, so silver, so exact
Nov. 27th, 2007 02:04 pmBecause my beloved
sacchifox asked me! Questions~~!
1) If you could become anyone, real or fictional, for just one day, who would you be?
I honestly do not know! In the past while I've never really wanted to be anyone else, I've been vaguely happy with who I am. I've had moments where I've wished I've looked like someone else or I was more attractive or clever or productive or not such a fuck-up to make someone else happy - or to make myself happier!
But, in honour of this question, I would...I guess I'd love to be Rose for a day whilst she travelled with the Doctor as she was always learning and the world was always new to her afterwards.
2) Describe your favorite moment from Dr. Who.
....I don't know! I could give you hundreds. I love "Father's Day", where Nine!Doctor leans over baby!Rose's pram and says "Now Rose, you're not going to bring about the end of the world, are you?" because it was an adorable moment and most of "Father's Day" makes me cry, especially the last five minutes where Steve Tyler realises that the world is ending - "being cauterised" because his daughter saved his life. And he tells her that this is the way it has to go, and he mentions having something no one else in the world has ever had - an extra few hours with his grown-up daughter. And that last moment when The Doctor, who's been pissy most of the episode, walks over to Rose, cradling her father's body, takes her hand and they walk away.
Oooh! Or, in "Rose", the first episode, where the Doctor explains to Rose: D'you know like we were saying? About the Earth revolving? It's like when you're a kid, the first time they tell you that the world's turning and you just can't quite believe it because everything looks like it's standing still. I can feel it -- [he takes Rose's hand] -- the turn of the Earth. The ground beneath our feet is spinning at a thousand miles an hour and the entire planet is hurtling around the Sun at sixty-seven thousand miles an hour, and I can feel it. We're falling through space, you and me. Clinging to the skin of this tiny little world, and if we let go... [beat. Drops her hand] That's who I am. Now forget me, Rose Tyler. Go home. Loved that.
"Dalek"!!! Oh I loved Dalek! When Nine and the Dalek where trapped in the cell together and Nien realises that the "Metaltron" captured is actually a Dalek - he goes fucking mad, completely unbalanced and you get to see what the Time War did to him, he screams at the Dalek to kill itself. Gives me shivers when I think about it. So does when the Dalek reveals that Rose touching it contaminates it - that it's like a disease, wanting to feel the sunlight on it's face:
The Doctor: You're not even that. Rose did more than regenerate you, you've absorbed her DNA. You're mutating.
Dalek: ... Into... what?...
The Doctor: Something new.
[The Dalek creature's eye moistens, as if about to shed tears.]
The Doctor: I'm sorry.
Rose: Isn't that better?
The Doctor: Not for a Dalek.
Dalek: [voice begins to change] ... I can... feel... So many ideas... So much darkness... Rose, give me orders... Order me to die...
Rose: I can't do that.
Dalek: ... This is not life... This is... sickness... I shall not be like you. Order my destruction! Obey. Obey! OBEY!
Rose: ... Do it.
Dalek: ... Are you... frightened, Rose Tyler?...
Rose: [sobs] Yep.
Dalek: ... So am I... Exterminate...
I adored Jack's entrance in "The Empty Child" and just the Jack/Rose/Doctor dynamic over those two episodes, especially when Jack points the banana at the Masked People.
The whole Bad Wolf references during Season One, culminating in Rose becoming the Bad Wolf. Awesome.
Season two! Loved season two. The moment when Ten!Doctor turned and said, in the school episode ("School Reunion"), "I am so old now - I used to have so much mercy." And when Rose huffs with him about the fact that he'll leave her, like he did Sarah Jane, and he explains: "You can spend the rest of your life with me...but I can't spend the rest of mine with you."
The Ten/Rose dynamic is making the series for me - the whole best friends/saving the universe/snarking/enjoying every moment of it. But at the minute the episode really standing out for me is the "Impossible Planet"/"The Satan Pit". If you've seen it, I think you understand. Particularly when Rose starts crying when the crew tell her the Doctor is dead, they have to leave, she tells them he isn't dead, "'Cause he's not. I'm telling you, he's not. And even if he was, how could I leave him... all on his own, all the way down there?"I cried~!
"The Impossible Planet" and "The Satan Pit" were amazing episodes. Visually, when Rose and Ten sit under the Black Hole and look up and talk about the TARDIS and leaving home and mortgages - how the Doctor could have to live a normal life, and Rose is willing to stand by him. The religion mentioned, Zack being afraid to step up into Captain shoes but "Was a very good captain, under the circumstances" the "she was only 19 years old" line which echoes a line Nine said a season earlier in "Dalek" ("she was just 18 years old"). How Rose has to step up, is forced to act on her own without the Doctor backing her up and it's the first real hint that she's leaving, because she's almost finished growing up, she takes charge and is marvellous. And the Doctor talking about the past, about belief. Rose's unwillingness to leave him. And the Doctor's "I believe in her".
Right, I have rambled far, FAR too long now and made no sense and I'm going to stop Who!rambling now. Sorry Sacchi!
3) What's your favorite drink?
Um...I like fruit juice a lot - pineapple, apple, orange etc and I've been drinking water an awful lot to get healthy and stuff! I still love Vanilla Coke in my heart, except for the fact that it is not made anymore which makes me cry!
Probably tea though. Tea is my one true love that has never left me! Despite the bad circulation I get from it, ha ha ha ha!
Alcoholically, I like sweet drinks. I drink Malibu rum with coke or cocktails.
4) What would you name your oldest daughter?
I don't know. I actually have always insisted that I would never have kids because they would be a mess. No, honestly! I walk into walks, for God's sake, what would my kids be like?!?! However, there just seem to be far too many signs that I will be a mum. So I will see what happens!
I'm not sure what I'd name the kids though. I joke about naming them something awful like Cuthbert or Sara-Louise to annoy them or to name them after the wrong month. Like a June baby being called December but I'm not sure! But if she was the eldest girl, like me, I'd want her to have a good strong name, something she's be happy with and something that people could twist into nicknames.
....That's hard. Name my kids for me!
5) What's the first thing that comes to mind upon hearing the word "epiphany?"
A bunch of images, like viewing them through a kalediscope. Sitting in Mass years ago and watching the spring light stream through the stained glass windows and the quiet and the belief, the tingly, the heart-catching sensation that maybe my soul was new and I could start again. And moments being blinded, like the sun hitting your eyes and being dazzled, and being devestated and losing everything, self, knowledge, name, all of it, and integrating it all back into yourself. And quiet moments where you lean against the metal Production Bin in work, arms behind your back, looking at the floor but not really seeing it and just gasping softly, slightly as something you never considered just hits you.
